Yizkor Book

Yizkor means "remember." It is a special time when we pause from the busy pace of life and remember the people who shaped our lives - parents, grandparents, spouses, children, siblings, relatives and dear friends who are no longer with us.

Yizkor is recited four times a year: on Yom Kippur and on the last day of each of the three Festivals: Sukkos, Passover and Shavuos.

Each time we say Yizkor, we ask G-d to remember the souls of our loved ones. It is also an opportunity for us to remember them, to reflect on the lives they lived and the values they passed on to us.

An important part of Yizkor is the commitment to tzedakah - giving charity in memory of our loved ones.

Our tradition also teaches that Torah study brings spiritual benefit to the souls of those in whose merit the Torah is studied.

With this in mind, Chabad House Jewish Center is creating a Community Yizkor Book listing the names of our loved ones.

Your donation helps support Torah classes in our community, creating a beautiful double mitzvah in their memory:

For a nominal donation, you can have the name of a loved one included in our Yizkor Book:

• $0  per name already sponsored in the 2026–27 Community Calendar

• $0  per name for Chabad Club Monthly Sponsors

Most importantly, each name in the Yizkor Book will be read aloud at all four Yizkor services throughout the year.

In this way, we can make sure that the memory of those who meant so much to us continues to live on – and that their names are remembered together with our community, year after year.

May the merit of our loved ones inspire us to add more goodness, kindness, Torah and mitzvos in their memory.
